Work Placements and Apprenticeships
Work placements and apprenticeships
As a significant local employer and social housing provider we recognise the importance of offering training and employment opportunities, particularly for young and long term unemployed people. This ranges from offering Modern Apprenticeships to school placements, internships and work placements. In the past, we have provided placements through Heriot Watt University, High Schools throughout the Borders, Get Ready for Work, Apex Scotland, Borders Workingrite and Workchoice. We will continue to develop opportunities further in the future.
Modern Apprenticeship Scheme
Since the scheme started in 2006, SBHA has provided 27 Modern apprenticeships, mainly in our Maintenance Division. A Modern Apprenticeship combines practical work with structured training, to give you a nationally recognised qualification and the experience you need to get the job you really want. Modern Apprenticeships are a rare and valuable opportunity in the Borders so if you have the skills and values we need watch our for opportunities as they arise.
Depending on the level of apprenticeship undertaken, apprentices who successfully complete their apprenticeship will gain an NVQ level 2 or level 3 in their chosen area of interest, plus additional qualifications which vary from subject to subject.
Please check our Current Vacancies page for any apprenticeships which may be available. If you require further information please contact our HR Team on 01750 724444 or email people@sbha.org.uk
